Clorox Professional Products Commitment

Clorox Professional Products Company believes clean means everything in the places that matter most. From acute care facilities to school classrooms, professional sports arenas and restaurants, we are committed to meeting the demands of industry professionals by delivering quality products and solutions that create healthy spaces, all while reducing our impact on the environment.

Our public health mission is part of The Clorox Company’s purpose to champion people to be well and thrive every single day. This guides us to pursue innovative ways to meet our customers’ needs and address the planet’s pressing environmental challenges with a focus on Healthy Lives, Clean World and Thriving Communities. These pillars are the framework for how Clorox and CloroxPro are integrating ESG goals within a long-term business strategy to unlock stakeholder value and help people thrive in a more sustainable and inclusive world.

Healthy Lives

We believe responsible product stewardship starts by taking progressive actions to enhance best practices throughout the professional cleaning industry. Clorox Professional Products Company is committed to enhancing the sustainability of our products by focusing on Green third-party certification and supporting product advocacy and ingredient transparency.

In 2022, Clorox Professional Products Company launched Clorox EcoClean™, a new product platform anchored by an EPA-certified Design for the Environment (DfE) disinfectant cleaner and EPA-certified Safer Choice cleaners made from plant-based active ingredients. Our DfE certified Clorox EcoClean™ Disinfecting Cleaner offers efficacy that is comparable to traditional disinfectants killing 99.9% of illness-causing germs in 2 minutes or less. Furthermore, the lactic-acid based disinfectant is formulated without bleach, alcohol, phosphate or quats. Clorox EcoClean™ All-Purpose and Glass Cleaners are EPA Safer Choice and USDA Biobased Certified and made with 99% and 94% plant-based cleaning ingredients, respectively.

We are aligned with The Clorox Company’s vision to eliminate animal testing requirements for disinfecting products, as currently required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and replace such testing with non-animal alternatives. We also have furthered our long-standing commitment to ingredient transparency and responsible chemical management by publishing ingredients used in our products via Smartlabel, as well as compiling and publishing a list of restricted substances, to reinforce confidence in our cleaning solutions.

Furthermore, we are participating in the Chemical Footprint Project to assess and report the footprint of our products and are committed to reducing that footprint.

Clean World

Cutting emissions and reducing plastic and other waste within the professional cleaning industry starts within our own operations and continues through a product’s life cycle. As of September 2022, more than half of CloroxPro products by volume are manufactured in facilities that have achieved zero-waste-to-landfill and 100% renewable electricity.

We are also focused on reducing our impact upstream with less virgin plastic and more post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic in our packaging, and downstream with recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging, in alignment with The Clorox Company’s goal to reduce virgin plastic in our supply chain by 50% by 2030. As of 2022, 76% of CloroxPro product packaging is recyclable based on Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s definition of recyclable packaging and 100% of products have a How2Recycle label on packaging for clear and transparent recycling information. The Clorox EcoClean™ bottles are made with 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic and are 100% recyclable.¹

Furthermore, we launched Clorox Healthcare® Bleach Germicidal Wipes – Soft Pack, which uses a flat-pack design instead of a canister. This results in 79% less packaging used than comparable products,2 more efficient shipping, storage, and distribution due to 50% reduction3 in case volume.

Thriving Communities

Throughout our history, we have never forgotten that our company is only as strong as the communities around us. CloroxPro enables our customers and their patrons to thrive by focusing on actions that protect their well-being. This commitment has manifested in many ways, including providing disaster relief assistance, partnering with industry groups to remain at the forefront of public health issues and supporting those on the frontlines, and educating our customers on how to properly clean for health in shared spaces.

In the wake of the severe Atlantic hurricane season in 2021–2022, CloroxPro provided a multi-million-dollar product donation to Convoy of Hope to help with recovery efforts and disaster relief across several U.S. states. CloroxPro’s donation, along with shipping and distribution services from Convoy of Hope, helped recipients address cleaning, disinfection and mold remediation efforts that are critical in the aftermath of hurricanes and other natural disasters. In 2022, CloroxPro also made monetary and product donations to a rural clinic in Tennessee in desperate need of upgrades necessary to continue providing life-saving care to local residents.

In 2021, Clorox Healthcare became an affiliate partner of Practice Greenhealth®, the leading membership and networking organization for sustainable health care, to connect with healthcare facilities interested in sustainability. This partnership will help Clorox align with healthcare industry sustainability goals, better understand current challenges, and help inform future product development and service offerings.

To address the need for more qualified infection preventionists (IPs), every year since 2021, Clorox Healthcare awards scholarships to IPs working in communities with an elevated need to attend the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) annual conference. This educational event helps them acquire scientific insights in infection prevention and control, create peer-to-peer connections from leaders in the field, and gain exposure to the latest products and technologies.

Lastly, the COVID-19 pandemic raised public awareness about how illness-causing germs spread, resulting in higher expectations about cleaning and disinfecting facilities. However, many cleaning professionals struggle with meeting these new demands, particularly given on-going staff shortages, retention issues and inflation-induced budget constraints. To address this need, in 2022, CloroxPro launched CloroxPro™ HealthyClean™, a new online learning platform for cleaning professionals. HealthyClean™ delivers best-in-class education and training to teach thousands of frontline cleaners and managers how to clean for health — safely, effectively and efficiently. An interactive, on-demand “Trained Specialist” course is the ONLY industry-wide certificate program accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)4, meeting the globally recognized standards for program quality and training results.
