Science-Powered Support: How Clorox Healthcare’s Clinical and Scientific Affairs Team Supports Infection Preventionists
Exploring how evidence-based resources, real-world research, and collaboration with APIC help empower IPs to protect patients and communities.
Last month, as a visionary strategic partner of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), Clorox Healthcare hosted the first-ever joint meeting between APIC’s IP Corporate Directors Council (ACDC) and Research Advisory Panel (RAP). The goal was simple: to create a space for connection, collaboration, and shared purpose.

“Our job is not just to control infection, it’s to prevent it.” — APIC’s Director of Research, Dr. Sara Reese
The Clorox Healthcare CASA Team: Experts Supporting IPs
One of my favorite parts of the day was the breakout session with the RAP. As a scientist with over a decade of experience in research, I found it energizing to hear how IPs are engaging in new research opportunities through the APIC Research Network (ARN). During this breakout, I had the pleasure of introducing the RAP to the Clorox Healthcare Real-World Research Program and the numerous resources created by my teammates on the Clinical and Scientific Affairs (CASA) team. CASA includes experts in public health, microbiology, toxicology, infection prevention & control (ICP), and epidemiology and our mission is simple: to support IPs, environmental services staff (EVS), and other healthcare professionals, by translating research into practical tools and evidence-based guidance.
We know that IPs wear many hats and often have limited time to dig deeply into research studies. That’s where CASA comes in. Our team distills complex science into easy-to-use resources (e.g., study summaries, protocol guides, disinfection checklists, etc.) all designed to help IPs make evidence-based decisions faster and with more confidence.

How CASA can help:
As IP responsibilities grow, clarity and efficiency become essential. Our resources aim to support those evolving needs. During the RAP breakout, IPs learned about several Clorox Healthcare and CASA-developed resources, including:
- Educational Content: Blogs, toolkits, protocol guides, pathogen fact sheets, short videos, research summaries, and webinars (many offering continuing education (CE) credits). Among the most popular resources are whitepaper on Tb and our bleach and hydrogen peroxide study summaries, which compile peer-reviewed research demonstrating the science behind effective disinfection.
- Real-World Research Program: CASA’s research program collects real-world data to help healthcare professionals make informed decisions about products and protocols. To strengthen our commitment to evidence-based research and collaboration, Clorox Healthcare joined the ARN as a 2025 Industry Partner. This partnership enhances opportunities to support IP-led research and generates insights that advance infection prevention science and helps improve patient outcomes.
- Training Programs: High staff turnover and training gaps remain major challenges in healthcare facilities. The CloroxPro HealthyClean online learning platform provides high-quality training modules, including the CloroxPro HealthyClean Introduction to Healthcare, designed for EVS managers and staff, supervisors, and IPs. Managers and IPs can also assess cleaning techniques and consider transitioning to RTU EPA-approved disinfectants to simplify training.
During the forum, IPs expressed a strong preference for concise, accessible education, like short videos, webinars, and quick-reference tools, and that’s exactly what CASA delivers. Our approach is designed to meet IPs where they are, making trusted, science-backed insights easy to access.
Altogether, the APIC Fall Forum was a powerful reminder that when we come together with shared purpose, we move the science, and the mission of infection prevention, forward. At Clorox Healthcare we remain committed to providing IPs and healthcare professionals with the tools, research, and products they need to protect patients and communities.
